If we all could just sit down together and have a few rounds, couldn't we all just get along? That's the general idea with a new line of bottle openers I received in the mail from the guys over at from FromWarToPeace.com. The bottle openers are actually made from disarmed nuclear weapons, a material known as Peace Bronze, which is safe to hold and use. Holding the bottle opener in my hand, it does have a significant weight for a keychain, but is a great conversation peace (pun intended) for those who seek a world without war and want to convince some friends with the gift of beer.
The keychains come in three models - the classic, the bomb, and the aviator. My sample was the aviator, which is a vertical-flat pop style bottle opener. On one side there is an embossed bomber dropping bottles of beer and on the other side it reads "Made from discharged nuclear weapons". While this is cool, I hope that in a future version they may put something a little more inspirational in the text. Overall, I really think its a novel idea - taking elements of war and transforming them into thought provoking items of jewelry, art, and function. Where you may land on the political spectrum, well I can't say for sure; but the next time you are sitting back and having a beer, think of how great it would be if everyone could sit back and enjoy such happiness.
